Ashes to Ashes

08:00 I forced my eyelids open, I concluded it would be a gloomy day in every sense of the word and really bloody cold, I mean a proper jumper day except for our Northern relatives who were probably still in their T-shirt’s!

Both my kids got up without any asking today, nothing new for Fabian but akin to a miracle for Millie but she got up and was really helpful and I must say I appreciated it greatly! I still had lots of orders to make so Fabe couldn’t come to work but he really wouldn’t have wanted to, Millie set up the new Disney channel so he crawled under a blanket and I left him watching Pirates of the Caribbean, he had a movie marathon planned.

Loads of orders came in and I even had a customer tap on the door for a bouquet, I made her wait outside while I threw a bouquet together for her but we chatted for a distance which was nice. By 14:00 I finished making bits up and set off for deliveries it was another day of driving to some stunning places like the top of the hills in Hollingbourne, the weather had brightened but it was so windy I nearly got beaten to death the birthday balloon tied to the flowers for a lady of 94. Next a beautiful part of Bearsted and then the rest scattered around Maidstone.

My cousin Charlotte arranged a FaceTime conversation with Fabian his cousin Stu, I wasn’t there to see it but he didn’t stop talking about it, those two will be great in the same nursing home when they are old men!

We had a call earlier in the day from Cherry Trees to say Bentleys ashes were ready for collection so when I finished I arranged a to collect them, I cried like a big fat girl (well I am one) the second I saw his urn, but did chuckle at how heavy they were he’s was a bloody great lump even after death! He’s now on the mantle, he should really be on the window ledge where he liked to rest his floppy chops waiting to scare the shit out of anyone brave enough to come up the path!

We had about six spots of rain, just enough to annoy me and make a point that I need new wipers for the van, every time they swished a straggly bit of rubber dawdled behind the blade just smearing the droplets around leaving me a two inch strip to see through grrr I was far more angered by this than is natural maybe this lockdown shizzle is starting to take it toll!

My evening consisted a hot bath, fantastic food lots of alcohol and brilliant music, I only had toast and then nothing until a baked Camembert with cranberry and herbs and loads of bread to dunk, a stir fried five spiced chicken with noodles, chocolate orange mousse and the best local cheeses with charcoal, ale and water crackers washed down with a few gins and tonics and a bottle of Prosecco and no I wasn’t sharing. I’m pretty sure you could make a marks and Spencer’s advert out of that lot!

Apart from the Masterchef final a time when no one can speak (oh and I wish I was a gambler because Tom was my favourite from the min I saw him) I just listened to my favourite music to try and keep my mind busy, Dire Straights, Florence and the Machine, a bit of Eric Clapton I even sneaked a bit of Ed Sheeran in there, but The Dog days was a poor choice and the tears came easily! I did catch some of Graham Norton and I don’t know if it’s the Prosecco but I really fancy Ricky Gervais mostly because of his teeth they were mesmerising……..maybe it’s a midlife hormone thing???
